Nice technique, it makes a really nice atmospheric effect.
I had no idea you could buy powdered graphite. It sounds rather dangerous :P.

Those paper things are called blending stubs in English ^_^.

Very interesting! I never thought of 'shading' the background before hand. It DOES make things easier. :)

I really need to finish that pastel tutorial of mine... -_-
